Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral or Mental Health Care Plan to book an appointment? No. You are welcome to book an appointment without a referral. However, if you’d like to access Medicare rebates to reduce the out of pocket cost of the sessions, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.
Do you offer Telehealth/online sessions? Yes, sessions can be held via a secure video platform embedded right into my practice system (Halaxy), offering you full privacy and flexibility from home.
Do you offer in person sessions? While most of my clients tend to choose Telehealth for convenience (and to save on travel time), in person sessions are offered at my Malvern rooms at specified times.
What are your fees? Curent fees are $245 per sessions, but please get in touch via email or phone to check on variations. Fees always remain below the APS and AAPi recommended fees and reduced rates are available for those with a valid Health Care Card. The current Medicare rebate is $101.55 per 50+ minute session, so if you have a referral from your GP or psychiatrist, your out of pocket expense will be $143.45.
Can I claim a rebate through Medicare or Private Health? Yes. If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP I can process your Medicare rebate. The Medicare rebate as of July 1 2026 is $101.55. Alternatively, you may be able to claim through your private health fund depending on your level of cover.
What if I’m not sure if therapy is right for me? That is completely okay. Finding the right fit matters, so you are welcome to book a free 15-minute phone consultation to see how it feels, ask any questions, or simply begin with a single session. Get in touch via the Contact page.
What can I expect in the first session? The first session is an opportunity to talk through what’s been going on for you and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. We’ll begin to build an understanding of your situation and discuss how we might work together. There’s no pressure to cover everything straight away or book a series of sessions.
How many sessions will I need? This varies depending on your goals and the nature of what you’re working through. Some people attend for a shorter period, focused on a specific concern, while many prefer ongoing, longer-term support.
What is your cancellation policy? Because your session time is specifically allocated to you, at least 2 business days' notice is needed for any cancellation rescheduling. Appointments changed with less notice than this will incur the full session fee.
Can I use the Paper Sessions™ workbooks instead of therapy? The Paper Sessions™ resources are designed to provide general support and structure, but they are not a substitute for individual psychological therapy.
Do you offer printed/hardcopies of your workbooks and resources? It’s in the pipeline. Please let me know if this is something you would like via the Contact page.
