Psychology services
for adolescents

Principal psychologist, Romi Kaufman has specialist experience in adolescent mental health, wellbeing and engagement. She was the Senior Psychologist & Head of Clinical Care & Wellbeing at The Reach Foundation for eight years before moving into private practice.  She co-created with The Black Dog Institute a world first online positive psychology program for teenagers (BITEBACK), that has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression and increase life satisfaction, and has trained the staff, leading teachers, assistant principals and principals of over 35 schools and youth organisations on the application of positive psychology to enhance wellbeing and achievement.  Romi has been interviewed as an expert on youth happiness on ABC radio (2010) and has presented at a number of international youth conferences, including:
  • Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting (2013)
  • Melbourne Forum Series – Kids in the City (2008)
  • Teaching Health  & Wellbeing Conference (2008)
  • National Youth Affairs Conference (2007)
  • Fifth Australian & New Zealand Adolescent Health Conference (2006).

She offers weekday appointments, including some after school appointments at our Richmond counselling rooms  and Armadale counselling rooms. Where appropriate, she works collaboratively with both young people and their families to identify goals and  develop individualised plans.  She focuses on creating a safe and respectful environment for young people in which to explore personal challenges, and realise their potential to lead happy and engaged lives.
